The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Scarlet

After four long, boring days I was beginning to give up. This beach was so boring and everyone ignored me! It was like I didn’t exist but I did! Day in day out, I sat there wondering if anyone would rescue me.
I had hope.
A man came closer, then stopped and just stared at me! Then he came even closer and punched my stomach - it hurt! So I opened my mouth and spat out a beach ball. He caught it and threw it back to me!
We were having so much fun. I loved it, he was my first friend and also he was enjoying it too!!!

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Keiran

I have been sat on this beach for decades until I saw this person approach me. I thought maybe he might come see me. He came up and rung my red bell. Then he followed the rope and punched me in the stomach.  Then he lifted the panel on me and shouted, “Hello.”

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Leyton

I was just sitting on the beach like I have been doing for about two years. I suddenly saw a little skinny man with a huge forehead and a very bad haircut (I think he was just having a really bad hair day). Anyway, he was digging through the sand - I think he dropped something but anyway he walked up to a little red bell it was exactly the same colour as me. It had a string which went directly to 1 of my 8 tentacles. He was interested so he decided to follow it. The man (who I guessed was about 28) approached me. Then he began walking around me in a clockwise direction and looked up with his hand on his chin thinking ‘I wonder what this creature is?’

He saw my belly then punched me. I felt a little weirded out then he stuck his head inside my belly and I was like, ‘OH HELL NO!’ I got straight up and got a beachball. I threw it at him because he seemed nice but it was still a risk. He caught it - he has good reflexes. We began playing and continued for a long time until we had to leave the beach.

I sat on the beach for months and months until this boy started to walk up me. When he came up to me he banged my old, rusty body. My body was all red and old. He shouted inside of me, “Hello!” so I decided to stretch out my wiggly, metal arms and stand up with freedom. I wanted to play so I threw a ball at him and he threw the ball back and we played catch. We looked at his bottle top collection, which was really cool. We built a huge sandcastle that looked really realistic. Sadly, we heard the people say we had to get off the beach, so we got off. He took me nearly everywhere round the whole entire town asking people if they know who I am.

Yesterday was the best day ever, somebody finally noticed me! I was as happy as a machine could be. It was at about 9am when a little boy - named Mike - came calmly down the steep steps and noticed my red bell buried in the crusty sand. He looked puzzled at first but then he looked up and caught sight of my huge, tomato-looking body. All of a sudden, the boy started to walk around my huge machine and looked up at my dusty, old fan that didn’t wake up my body until somebody opened up my stomach. Mike continued walking around and came back to my front, finally he knocked on my stomach and opened me up. I slowly came alive again. The confused boy kept observing as my fan started to turn and my tentacles started to appear. Then I decided that I need to get some exercise so I opened up my chest and threw a ball at him…

I saw him coming towards me…. His brown fuzzy hair was blowing in the beach’s cool, morning wind. His stubby legs were slowing down as he stumbled closer to me, still, yet about 5ft away. ‘Will he ignore me?’ I thought, staying as still as a rock. I watched him circle around me over and over again! (He was making me queasy!) He reached down slowly and picked up something. Something small. Something red and small. Something red small and attached to a small string...? I took a closer squint as I realised it was my old bell -that I had lost on this beach about 2 – 3 years ago… The boy rang my bell (how pleased I was to hear it again!) I later realised a sensation in my body. It was an itchy sensation with a hint of rust … At this rate I couldn’t contain myself… I was itching all over the place! Gently, I rose from the ground thinking about how scared the young boy would feel. But this boy was different. He had a puzzled look on his face, between shock and amazement. Could he be my first friend?... After that whole worrying for nothing, we played and got to know each other for hours! (And I mean hours!) We played ball, built sandcastles and played fetch from dusk, till dawn.

I never wanted this day to EVER end!!

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Sam

I remember when I was just chilling on the beach and everybody was disregarding me. Until a boy came up I thought he would just walk past me but I was wrong. He found my bell and resonated it. As he walked round me I was thinking about trusting him or not and then he gave me a funny look. He walked back in front of me then he punched my stomach it hurt a little then he shouted and that tickled. I figured that I could trust him so I powered myself up and he took two steps back. I thought he was scared of me so I gave him my beach ball and we started playing with each other. We played fetch he showed me his bottle cap collection we even made a sandy castle! But then a bell rang and we had to go.

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Murphy

Two weeks ago, I was laying down and was very bored because I had no one to play with. I was a lost thing; I saw a man at the beach. I wanted people to recognise me but when he went towards me I was a bit scared because I thought he would just walk away from me. He walked around me and wondered what I was. After that, I got up and he looked a bit scared so I got a beach ball and I gave it him to play with me. He kicked it to me and I caught it. Then we played that for a while then we played fetch but I got carried away and got a rusty pipe accidentally. Then I built a sandcastle with the man. Eventually we had to go, so we looked at a lot of places to see where I lived but he couldn’t hear me so we kept looking and looking and could not find where I lived. In the end we went to his family’s house. They told me to leave so we did.

I was just minding my own business when a strange creature came up to me and starting to inspect me. I was just about to stand up when he opened my hatch and shouted, “Hello!”
I decided to stand up and to my surprise he didn’t run away. I threw him a ball, he kicked it back. After that we played fetch and built a sandcastle.

Today, I saw a mysterious boy walking towards me.  He then abused me by punching me in the stomach.  The boy lifted up one of my doors and he stuck his head through the door and shouted, “Hello!”
I threw the boy a bouncy ball and we started to play catch.

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Bradley

On the golden sand, was where I had been sat for the last 20 days (doing nothing at all). Suddenly, I glanced up and noticed a short thing glaring right at me from the ancient stairs a few metres away from me… I tried to hide myself   but it is pretty difficult when you’re a bright scarlet coloured machine! The next second, he was approaching me and the next thing I knew, we were nearly touching noses (if I had one). This thing had black things surrounding his eyes like Harry Potter. I don’t know why but the thing started strolling around me in a clockwise direction. When we were face to face again he slowly bent down and picked up one of my bells I then got mad and stood up to the thing (literally!) But he didn’t run, maybe he was friendly… I decided to throw him a ball which he kicked back but not very accurately of course! We played for hours…

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Michael

I was sitting on the warm sandy beach when suddenly I saw a young boy. He approached me wearing a white polo shirt and large baggy trousers. He had a weird looking bin or basket on his back, with a crimson red book popping out the top. At first, he didn’t notice me until he found my half-buried bell in the dry sand. He carefully picked up the bell as if he didn’t know if it was fragile or rusty and old. It turned out to be ancient and rotted. He tinkled the bell which didn’t do much as I had already paid attention to him but he didn’t realise. The tinkle was a satisfying sound which made me a little bit happier. I asked myself, ‘Will this be my owner?’ After 2 years of sitting on this beach, lost and scared. Then I got nervous… The boy went around the back of me out of my sight. I then felt someone knock my belly and then shout inside a questioning, “Hello?” There was no answer. He went round the back to see what was there and came all the way back going clockwise. I decided to get up so I popped my legs out and lifted myself, even though I gave the guy a fright. I stood there inspecting him in full person and he looked like he was petrified! I opened my hatch and threw a ball out to see if he would play with me. Luckily he did! We played for ages, accidentally stopping the boy from doing his bottle cap collection. We had so much fun together! He was my friend. He took me to lots of places.

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Kaitlin

I had been sat on that beach for months and months. Nobody had ever noticed me; I guess they all were too busy doing other stuff. Then a creature walked towards me, I thought he was just going to walk past like everyone else. Surprisingly, he didn’t and he came towards me, he was gazing down at the floor as if he had lost something. Then he picked up my bell so I rang it. He quickly dropped it and stepped back. He came and inspected me, I started to feel a little bit shy because he had been the first creature, who had done this.

I did not know how to react.

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Harley

Every day of my life I had people walking past me, taking no notice of me because of how I looked and then one day a teenage boy started to approach me. He stared at me, then circled me in a clock-wise direction. All of a sudden he punched me in the belly and shouted, “Hello!” Then I decided it was time to make friends, I got up from the yellow sandy beach and I threw a sandy beach-ball at him and then he threw it back and we kept on going. We were playing beachball for so long I decided to bring a colossal rusty pipe towards him because beachball was getting a bit old. I was getting tired so he showed me his bottle cap collecting book and I thought it was amazing. As he was leaving, I thought to myself have I ever seen him on this yellow sandy beach before…

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Jack

I remember oh so many years ago.
I had been sitting on the golden, yellow beach, I had been there for a millennium, minding my own business and here comes my 1,050,009th human - mighty short this one. He had just been minding his own business, I presumed he was a potmanner (post man) on vacation or whatever, but something was different. He stopped and jingled my bell. ‘How peculiar,’ I thought and then he started to inspect clockwigger (clock wise)

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Harvey

The same day I lost my family, I got stuck in some golden sand. It seemed to be a beach, nobody noticed me so I was all alone and invisible. In the evening, I saw a little kid looking at my red bell. He started walking straight towards me. He picked up my bell and followed my rope and then he inspected me. He punched me and I had the feeling to get up. I thought he would run away but he didn’t so I threw a beach ball at him and he threw it back at me and we played together. We built a giant sandcastle and he let me look at his bottle cap collection. Eventually, everything got cleared away and it was time to leave the beach.

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Fatima

I’ve been sitting here for years now and nobody had seemed to notice I was there - it was like I was invisible. I always get excited if anyone comes up to me - hoping we can become friends. However, they always walk away; not even a word comes out of their mouths. These unusual creatures are very boring most of the time. A sunny day with light beaming out was ruined for me, a perfect day to play with your friends is gone!
Later on, a short boy came over with an open bag on his back. Then he wandered around me; it was like he was inspecting me. He looked up at me and I think he was thinking about something. Did he trust me? If he didn’t he’ll probably step a bit back but no he just stood there. Then I decided to get up myself so we could play with my ball.

We played with each other for most of the afternoon, then he stood on top of me and we had to go. I finally have a chance to see the world! I have a chance! I finally have a chance! He took me everywhere but I wasn’t quite sure what he was trying to do.

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Eva

It was the third day, I was so bored hopefully today was the day someone would actually notice me or at least pay a bit of attention. Suddenly a young boy was walking to the side of me. What could he be doing? Then he looked at me in a very mysterious way, he looked at me as if to say what are you? Then he came around the front of me and punched me right in the stomach. Should I trust him or not? I don’t think he was trying to hurt me, I just think he was trying to say, “Hi!” and I want to say hi back but everyone runs away when I try to speak to them. I did it and he didn’t run away, this could actually work.

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Elizabeth

I was sat on the beach where I have been for years. Suddenly a young boy was coming closer to me and then picked up my bell which had a string that led to me. The young boy followed the string and he found me. He punched my stomach and I thought he was trying to hurt me but he opened my stomach and shouted, “Hello!”

I was still wondering if he was friendly or not. After he punched my stomach I stood up and I was really happy because he did not run away like everybody else does. After a while, we became best friends and played catch, built sandcastles and talked.

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Faith

After gazing at the sun for about the hundredth time, I looked around me. I noticed this boy walking up to me, he was wearing a white t-shirt, and baggy trousers and it looked a bit like a bin on his back with some weird things inside. Suddenly, he started looking around me with a puzzled face. I was thinking to myself whether I should trust him as he was still looking at me. It was a bit strange because normally everyone would just when I stood up, but not the boy. So, we started playing with a ball and we made a sandcastle and we looked at his bottle top collection. It was amazing.

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Colette

A man walked down the rocky steps then I saw him get closer and closer. Suddenly, he started to look around me. He opened up the lid and looked inside. I really wanted to play ball so I spat the ball out he looked at the ball for a minute. Suddenly, the teenage boy threw the ball and we’ve had fun ever since.

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Colby

I have been on this sandy beach for three years and no one has noticed me, but then a man with spiky hair came towards me. I thought he was going to hurt me. Then he picked up the bell and I got up and threw a beach ball at him. Then we started to play catch. After that he started to walk away and booted the ball and then I ran to go and fetch the ball and ran back. Next, we built a sandcastle. Then we got kicked off and they destroyed our sandcastle and we couldn’t have ever built it ever again.

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Mason

I was on the beach like I have been for the last two years. Until I saw this boy looking around has he came for me can I finally leave this desert. He was looking for something then he saw my bell. He shuffled along and picked it up. Then he inspected me in a clockwise direction and punched my… and then shouted hello and I knew it was time to meet him. He didn’t run away like the others he just took two steps back and ‘poof’ I gave him a ball. We played for a while then we had to come off of the beach.

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Amelia

After three long weeks, a boy walked closer and closer to me. He started to look round me then started shouting in my belly. I stood up and wanted to play a game of fetch and then he opened his book of bottle tops and started talking to me about them and I thought they were pretty cool. Then they said, “Close the beach!” So, they packed all the umbrellas away and told us to leave this way immediately. Then the people sucked anything up left on the beach with a hoover.

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Taylor

Two years ago, I was sat on the beach and a strange looking boy came striding towards me. I hope he walks straight past me like everyone else does. What is he doing? He rang my bell, it tickled, then he followed my string and stared at me for a long time. Then he punched my belly and it hurt me. He lifted it opened and then shouted, “Hello!” It shocked me and that hurt as well, then I thought it is time to make friends, I started moving - he took a step back and I threw a ball at him. Soon we were playing and enjoying ourselves until the sun set. At the time, I didn’t realise that there were traffic lights on the edge of the old sand covered stairs. Then we got told to go and the sandcastle that we made was getting took down and I didn’t know where to go. I was really sad the ball that was red, blue and white was getting sucked up into some sort of vacuum cleaner with an incinerator at the back and I thought that the incinerator was a bit dangerous and that was the end of our time on the beach.

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Harry

Yesterday, I met a new friend on the beach. He noticed me when everyone else ignored me. It was like they did not even see me. He was looking around me. He found a latch on me so he knocked on it and I woke up. We started to play catch then we made a sandcastle that looked like the building beside us.

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Ruby

It was the next day, still no one noticed me. They would all just walk straight past me. Then I noticed a new person walking onto the beach. He was approaching me slowly. He was wearing a white top, he also had black baggy trousers and he was carrying a brown bag - it had lots of stamps all over it, he must had been to lots of places.

He was right near me... He had found my bell... He picked it up and it made a little ding! He was going clockwise around me - I stayed completely still. He tickled me a little, so I tossed a ball at him. Then we started to play catch.

We played catch all afternoon. I got a bit carried away when we played fetch I brought him back a huge pipe I put it near his feet and it almost crushed him. Then it was time to get off the beach, he took me to his house but his mom and dad kicked me out so I had nowhere to sleep so this is where I’m now writing down what happened today. I had a great adventure today and I will never forget today.

The Lost Thing Meets the Boy by Aaliyah:

When I met Dave
A few days ago, when I was sat on the beach I saw a man. I thought he would ignore me once again but this time he didn’t. I was amazed he picked up my bell that had been sat there for ages. It led to me, so he explored me further.

I was sat on the beach, where I have been for such a long time, when I saw a boy coming up to me. He started to inspect me. He rang my bell. “Is he going to be friendly?” I thought. It was time to make some friends. So, I opened up. The boy started to step back a little, oh no is he going to run away. I stopped, and he looked up at me in a puzzled way, as I started to open up again.  He looked friendly, so I threw him a beach ball hoping he would play. He looked at it and picked it up and threw it back, I got a little carried away with the game and ended up bringing him a giant tube we played for hours. Until the beach alarm went off…

It may have venomous teeth,
It will only bite if threatened.
It uses the element of surprise to hunt its prey

Fantastic Creature by Bradley

Slithered from time to time.

Then rapidly she went and found more.

And covered in mud,
