The Commentator by Maya

Hello and welcome to the 2018 Richmond sports day.
This is Taylor Swift and I will be commentating this eventful day.
The crowd are going wild
As the first contestants step up to the track.
First up is the sack race.
Everyone is ready to go
Except for Little Timmy who is struggling to get in his sack.
On Your Marks, Get Set, Go!
Lucy takes the lead as Johnny is jumping fiercely behind her,
with Little Timmy last because he is still trying to fit in his sack.
Soon enough, Little Timmy sets off.
A couple of steps from the start line and Little Timmy has fallen over.
Back to the other side of the field,
Lucy crosses the finish line in first place and Johnny in second.

Next up is the parents race.

The parents line up.
Lucy’s parents do some stretches.
On Your Marks, Get Set, Go!
Lucy’s parents speed off while Little Timmy’s parents are doing their laces for the 20th time.
Johnny’s parents are so close to the finish line
yet Lucy’s parents take the lead and come first.
So at the end of the day,
we have a very happy family that gained top score,
a very frustrated family that kept getting second
and a family in the first aid box as the parents hurt their ankles.

The Pilot by Maya

Tom walked into Willie’s room. He was once again surprised that Willie actually slept in the bed, yet the bed was soaking wet. Tom took a deep sigh and tried to wake Willie up.
Willie, Tom and Sammy were soon down stairs drinking tea and scrubbing the wet bed sheets. Just then, someone bashed on the door. Mr Tom went to answer it. Behind the ancient, crooked, wooden door stood Zach with his red top and green braces, the same as the day before. “Would Willie like to go cycling and then maybe go down to the lake?”
“I think he would love that, Wouldn’t ya Willie?”
Willie nodded his head. He wasn’t quite sure what a river was, yet he said nothing.
Zach sat by the table, downstairs while Willie went to get changed. Willie felt quite excited yet slightly scared because he had no idea of what a lake was. He imagined it as the miniature pond that Mr Tom kept in his garden as a decoration.
Once Willie had finished getting changed from his wet pyjamas, he walked down the stairs slowly. Zach and Mr Tom were chatting quietly. It seemed like they were talking about Willie. “How’s Willie getting on?” asked Zach.
“Yer, e’s doin’ fine,” whispered Tom.

For a minute or two there was complete silence throughout the house. The two of them were sat in silence. Zach then took a loud slurp of his tea to break the silence yet it only made it more awkward.
Willie was still sat on the stairs, listening to the silent conversation.
Suddenly there was a loud creak on the stairs due to Willie’s fidgeting. The pair of them turned around and saw Willie crouching down on the crooked stairs. “It’s probably best that yer be off.”
Zach nodded in agreement.
They opened the creaky, ancient door.
They headed to Mrs Fletcher’s house because she promised that the two boys could borrow Michael’s and George’s old bikes. Zach wanted to show Willie his favourite cycle path.
They both cycled through the small village of Little Wierwold. They went past the shops that Willie had visited the first day in Little Wierwold. Then they came up to the post office then the village centre. Soon enough they were already cycling through meadows and fields. Zach pointed out the path. The path was a cobbled way surrounded by an evergreen forest and beautiful foxgloves. The smell of freshly mown grass was sensational.
Soon after they were riding along a small stream. Before they knew it, they were at the lake that Zach kept going on about. When Willie saw that it was deep water, he panicked. “I’ll drown!” shouted Willie “I’ve never swam in my life.”                                                              “You’ll be fine,” said Zach.

Food of the Gods by Maya

If one day I get offered a multi-billion pound job in Hollywood on a worldwide film, I will probably be offered fancy food but I will be waiting for a desired food of the god’s meal.

My starter will contain a delicious bowl of chicken soup. The noodles will be calling me to eat them. The carrot finely chopped and the noodles. The soup itself is one of the best looking smelling and tasting soup ever. The smell is one of a kind and it looks like it has come from heaven.

The main would be a classic 8 oz burger, with a side of fries and sticks of garlic bread. The burger will have freshly picked cucumber, lettuce and on top of all that there will be two strips of the finest bacon. The chips should be finely chopped and the garlic bread should have an intense flavour and smell. The beef should be well done and richly cooked. To drink I will have a delicious glass of a flake milkshake with fresh whipped cream, chocolate sauce and a cherry on top.

The dessert is the best part of this mouth-watering three course meal. The dessert will be a massive slice of the one and only Daim cake. The cake will be covered in melted galaxy chocolate. On the side of that will be two scoops of the magnificent Ben and Jerry’s cookie dough ice-cream. The plate will be covered with the chocolate. The smell is extraordinary.

A new home by Maya

Today was the day. I had to say goodbye to my friend. The funny thing was I spent all this time with him and I didn't find out his name. So, I decided just to call him Mark. Mark was a lovely chap. He looked after me and he would pay attention to me not like other people.
One morning we were walking down Main Street. I stood around innocently while Mark asked another hundred people if they knew where I came from. I spotted a building. It said home for lost creatures. It was all grey and it didn’t look very welcoming. I rang my bells and Mark turned around and I showed him. He wasn't so keen on sending me there. I agreed. But then Mark held his head high and dragged me in there. The first thing we saw was a receptionist who was constantly on the phone as these weird creatures have been popping up around the town. That was exactly what happened to me. I just lay there on the beach one day. I don't think I was from anywhere. I was just a beach monster. Once the receptionist had realised that we were there waiting for about half an hour she asked us how could she help. I thought she was being silly. It was really obvious. As you don’t open a home for strange creatures for no reason. Mark told her about our situation, but she didn’t look very interested. She handed us a clump of paperwork. Mark asked for a pen, but she said she didn’t have one. How dumb was that. As Mark searched his bag for a pen, one of the caretakers whispered under their breath that this wasn’t the right place for me. Me and Mark left instantly. The caretaker gave us a notice card with the address written on it.
We had arrived. I'm about to say goodbye to my one and only best friend. Once we said our goodbyes we walked inside. The building was sort of like a tunnel. We walked through it and met with a wooden arched door. Mark knocked. We expected the door to swing open but a small hatch opened and then a small flying wind-up mouse following on. A special machine scanned it. The door opened and our eyes glued to the place. The sun glistened in our eyes and the water rippling filed our eyes. The air smelt fresh like it had just rained but no clouds were in sight. What mostly filled the land were creatures all unique, with their own style. The place was covered in colour. It was like another world for strange, lost creatures. Land stretched for miles. Creatures looking so happy, they played freely together. I rang my bells again to tell Mark that I liked it. A tear ran down his face as he wrapped his hands around me. "Goodbye" he whispered. I shook my bells for the last time as I ran off. The doors shut.
"GOODBYE AND THANK YOU!" I shouted.

Autumn is here by Maya and Scarlett

AUTUMN IS HERE!
BY MAYA W AND SCARLETT B

It is day.
The sunny summer sky has turned grey.
The silver blanket of fog has just settled in.
And the usual sun bling has faded.

Murky maroon shaved wood surrounds the leafy collage on the floor.
On this new day out in the moor.
When I step out in the air,
I feel the cold in my hair.
I take another step and freeze,
As the first conker of the season falls from the trees.
As it hits the moist grass,
The cosy emerald shield cracks in two
 .
The only thing I have to do,
Is to collect conkers,
Through and through
.
Autumn is here!
So I cry a happy tear
.
